Orca DEX token climbs 7.2% as a midday Wednesday push holds
The Orca DEX token traded at $1.90 at 1:40 p.m. ET on Wednesday, up 7.2% in 24 hours after a push that peaked just before noon ET.
The quick take
- Price: $ORCA at $1.90, +7.2% ↑ in 24 hours (CoinGecko, 1:40 p.m. ET).
- Trigger: No Orca announcement explains the rise; the token climbed overnight, then pushed higher before noon ET.
- Watch: Whether buyers return to its top pool, where sells outnumbered buys 4,295 to 2,616.
The Orca DEX token climbs 7.2% in a day. The token of Orca DEX ($ORCA), a Solana exchange, traded at $1.90 at 1:40 p.m. ET on Wednesday, according to CoinGecko. Jupiter priced it at $1.897, within 0.2% of that reading.
What happened
The climb came in two steps. On Binance’s ORCA/USDT pair, the hourly close rose from $1.74 in the 4 p.m. ET hour on Tuesday to $1.83 by the 11 p.m. ET hour.
After a quiet morning, the token pushed to $1.91 in the 11 a.m. ET hour on Wednesday, its highest hourly close of the day. It has held near that level since.
CoinGecko puts the 24-hour range at $1.73 to $1.94. The token is still down 5.1% over seven days but up 27% over 30 days. Its market value is about $115.7 million, with $21.9 million traded across markets in 24 hours.
Why it moved
The cause is not confirmed. Orca has posted no announcement in the past day, and news outlets have not tied the move to any event.
The wider market rose too, but more slowly. Solana ($SOL) gained 1.9% in 24 hours, per CoinGecko, and Bitcoin ($BTC) rose 2.3%, according to LiveCoinWatch.
Trading on the exchange itself stays busy. DefiLlama’s latest 24-hour reading puts Orca DEX swap volume at $278.4 million, third among Solana exchanges after PumpSwap and BisonFi. Deposits on Orca total $307.3 million.
Who’s buying and selling
Sellers led the token’s largest pool. In the ORCA/SOL pool on Orca, DexScreener counted 4,295 sells and 2,616 buys over 24 hours.
That pool holds about $767,000 in liquidity and traded about $785,000 in the same window. The counts show how many trades took place, not their size, so fewer but larger purchases can still lift the price.
What to watch next
Watch whether buys catch up with sells in the ORCA/SOL pool. A second signal is Orca’s swap volume and whether it keeps its place among Solana’s three busiest exchanges.
Any project news would also help explain the move, since none has been posted so far.
Bottom line: The Orca DEX token is up 7.2% in a day without a confirmed trigger, while sellers still outnumber buyers in its main pool.
