Solana price dips under $100 on Monday, then climbs back

Solana ($SOL) touched a 24-hour low of $99.82 and traded at $101.44 as of 1:40 p.m. ET on Monday, Oct. 26.

The quick take

  • Price: $101.44, down 0.4% in 24 hours (CoinGecko, 1:40 p.m. ET).
  • Trigger: Bitcoin has now dropped under $80,000 three times since Saturday, and $SOL briefly followed it below $100.
  • Watch: the Federal Reserve rate decision on Wednesday and whether $SOL keeps the $100 mark.

What happened

Solana ($SOL) touched $99.82 on Monday, its lowest price of the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. Solana price dips under $100 have been brief so far: $SOL traded at $101.44 as of 1:40 p.m. ET.

That leaves $SOL down 0.4% over 24 hours and 2.8% over seven days. Its 24-hour high was $102.48. Over 30 days, the token is down 17%.

Why it moved

The dip tracked Bitcoin. $BTC has dropped under $80,000 three times since Saturday, Oct. 24, SolanaFloor reported on Monday. The same report said $SOL briefly dropped below $99 on Saturday.

SolanaFloor tied the selling to traders cutting risk before this week’s Federal Reserve meeting. It also pointed to tension in the Middle East.

The wider market was mixed. As of 1:41 p.m. ET, LiveCoinWatch showed $BTC at $80,554 (-0.1% ↓) and Ethereum ($ETH) at $2,330 (-1.1% ↓).

Who’s buying and selling

Sellers led in the largest $SOL trading pool. On the SOL/USDC pool of Orca DEX ($ORCA), DEX Screener counted 44,701 sells and 38,324 buys over 24 hours. GeckoTerminal showed a similar split, with 44,498 sells and 38,210 buys.

One large holder kept adding. Solana treasury company DeFi Development Corp. bought about 5,346 $SOL last week, lifting its holdings to 2.59 million $SOL, SolanaFloor reported.

Activity on the network held up. DefiLlama put Solana’s total value locked at $5.7 billion and its latest 24-hour DEX volume at $1.4 billion.

What to watch next

The Fed’s rate decision on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and the press conference that follows are the week’s main event for markets, per SolanaFloor. A firmer tone from the Fed could weigh on risk assets, while a softer one could ease the pressure, the outlet wrote.

For $SOL, the $100 mark is the line traders are testing. The token still trades 66% below its record high of $293.31 from Jan. 19, 2025, per CoinGecko.

Bottom line: Solana slipped under $100 for a short time on Monday and sits near $101 as markets wait for the Fed.
