Jupiter Perps LP value slips 4.4% in a week as its holdings stay put

The pool behind Jupiter Perps LP held $714.8 million at 17:48 UTC on Wednesday, down 4.4% in a week, while its count of SOL barely moved.

A large coin with a striped teal-and-lime sphere logo rests on a stone plinth in a paper-cut city at dusk.

The quick take

  • Price: $JLP traded at $4.49 at 19:39 UTC, up 0.6% in 24 hours and down 3.7% in seven days (CoinGecko).
  • Trigger: the pool’s dollar value fell 4.4% in a week as $SOL dropped 6.0%, while its count of about 4.02 million SOL held steady.
  • Watch: the pool’s USDC, which shrank by $4.8 million over the same week.

The pool behind Jupiter Perps LP ($JLP) lost 4.4% of its dollar value in a week, according to DefiLlama. That put the Jupiter Perps LP value at $714.8 million at 17:48 UTC on Oct. 28 (1:48 p.m. ET), down from $747.7 million at 00:00 UTC on Oct. 21.

The drop came mostly from prices, not from people leaving. The pool still holds about the same number of tokens it held a week ago.

What happened

$JLP is Jupiter’s perps liquidity pool token. Holders own a share of a basket of assets that traders borrow against on Jupiter’s perpetual futures market. When those assets fall in price, the basket is worth less, even if no one sells.

DefiLlama’s token breakdown shows how steady the basket was. The pool held 4,024,024 SOL on Oct. 21 and 4,018,127 SOL on Oct. 28, a change of less than 0.2%. Its wrapped bitcoin barely moved, from 1,507 to 1,504 coins.

Two parts did shift. USDC fell from $106.7 million to $101.8 million, a drop of $4.8 million or 4.5%. Wrapped ether rose from 28,788 to 29,677 coins, a gain of 3.1%.

Why it moved

Solana ($SOL) is the biggest piece of the basket. At DefiLlama’s 17:48 UTC reading, the pool’s SOL was worth $405.3 million, or 56.7% of the total. Wrapped bitcoin came next at $120.9 million (16.9%), then USDC at $101.8 million (14.2%) and wrapped ether at $69.2 million (9.7%).

So when $SOL slides, the pool follows. CoinGecko showed $SOL at $102.19 at 19:39 UTC, down 6.0% in seven days. CoinPaprika put the weekly drop at 5.5%.

The token itself fell less than the pool. CoinGecko had $JLP down 3.7% over seven days, and CoinPaprika had it down 3.4%. About 16.7% of the basket sits in stablecoins (USDC, JupUSD and USDT), which do not lose value when crypto prices dip. That cushion helps explain the gap.

Larger coins were calmer today. LiveCoinWatch showed Bitcoin ($BTC) at $81,171 and Ether ($ETH) at $2,358 at 19:41 UTC, up 0.7% and 0.6% in 24 hours.

Who’s buying and selling

Trading in $JLP itself stays small next to the pool. CoinGecko counted $2.23 million in total 24-hour volume.

The token’s biggest DEX pool, a JLP/SOL pair on Orca, held $2.24 million in liquidity, per DexScreener. It logged 6,972 buys and 4,734 sells in 24 hours, so buy orders outnumbered sells. These are counts of trades, not their size.

Jupiter’s own price feed showed $4.49 for $JLP, within 0.1% of CoinGecko. CoinGecko lists the token’s record high at $5.99 from Oct. 6, 2025, about 25% above today’s price.

What to watch next

  • The SOL count. A pool that keeps about 4.02 million SOL will keep tracking $SOL’s price closely.
  • The USDC side. A further drop would leave less stable money in the basket and make $JLP more sensitive to crypto swings.
  • Wrapped ether. It was the only major holding that grew in coin terms this week.

Bottom line: The Jupiter Perps LP pool lost dollar value because its assets got cheaper, not because its holdings drained away.
