Jupiter Perps LP holdings stay put as the pool slips to $662 million
The Jupiter Perps LP pool lost $32.5 million in value on Thursday through 3:26 p.m. ET, while the coins inside it barely changed.
The quick take
- Price: $JLP trades at $4.22, down 3.3% in 24 hours, as of 4:44 p.m. ET.
- Trigger: Lower prices for $SOL, $BTC and $ETH cut the pool from $694.3 million to $661.8 million.
- Watch: Whether the pool’s 4.14 million $SOL stays in place if the sell-off runs into Friday.
What happened
Jupiter Perps LP holdings barely moved on Thursday, even as the pool behind Jupiter Perps LP ($JLP) lost value. DefiLlama shows the pool at $661.8 million as of 3:26 p.m. ET, down from $694.3 million at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday. That is a drop of $32.5 million, or 4.7%, in less than a day.
$JLP is Jupiter’s perps liquidity pool token. Each token is a share of one pool that holds Solana ($SOL), wrapped bitcoin ($WBTC), wrapped ether ($WETH) and stablecoins.
Thursday’s opening reading of $694.3 million was the pool’s highest daily reading since Oct. 31. The slide erased Wednesday’s gain and left the pool below the $674.5 million it held a day earlier. It is also down from $719.2 million at the start of Oct. 29.
Why it moved
Prices did the damage, not withdrawals. DefiLlama’s token counts show the pool held 4.14 million $SOL at both readings, a change of just 0.1%. Its $USDC grew 1.5% to $99.0 million, and its wrapped ether rose 0.8% to 27,186 tokens.
Wrapped bitcoin was the only large holding that shrank in count, by 0.4% to 1,483 tokens. So the coins stayed, but each one was worth less by the afternoon.
The dollar math shows where the loss came from. The $SOL stack fell from $394.9 million to $371.5 million, a loss of $23.4 million. Wrapped bitcoin lost $7.2 million in value and wrapped ether lost $3.9 million.
$SOL makes up 56% of the pool, so its price sets the tone. CoinGecko shows $SOL at $90.08, down 4.8% in 24 hours as of 4:40 p.m. ET. LiveCoinWatch puts $BTC at $75,930, down 5.2%, and $ETH at $2,235, down 7.6%, at the same time.
Who’s buying and selling
$JLP itself fell less than the coins it holds. CoinGecko has it at $4.22, down 3.3% in 24 hours, in a range of $4.19 to $4.42. Jupiter’s own price feed matches at $4.22.
Part of the reason is the cushion. About $116 million of the pool, or roughly 18%, sits in $USDC and Jupiter’s JupUSD stablecoin, and those do not swing with the market. The token still trades about 30% below its record of $5.99 from Oct. 6, 2025, per CoinGecko.
On the open market, buyers outnumber sellers. In the largest $JLP trading pool on Orca, a pair against $SOL, GeckoTerminal counts 17,385 buys and 8,441 sells over 24 hours. DexScreener gives nearly the same split, 17,385 to 8,458.
That Orca pool traded about $2.1 million in 24 hours and holds $1.9 million of liquidity. It is small next to the main pool, so it says more about mood than about size.
Activity on Jupiter’s perpetuals exchange also picked up as prices swung. DefiLlama’s latest 24-hour fee reading for it is $391,423, up 110% from $186,765 in the 24 hours before, as of 4:45 p.m. ET.
What to watch next
The first number to watch is the $SOL count. If it holds near 4.14 million, the pool’s value simply tracks $SOL’s price; if it falls, money is leaving.
The second is the stablecoin share. A larger slice of $USDC and JupUSD gives the pool more cushion when prices drop, and a smaller one leaves it more exposed.
The third is fees. Thursday’s jump shows that busy markets bring more trading to Jupiter’s perps exchange, and the next readings will show whether that lasts.
Bottom line: The Jupiter Perps LP pool shrank in dollars on Thursday, but the coins inside it stayed put.
