The quick take

  • Price: $0.277, down 6.4% in 24 hours (CoinGecko, 3:40 p.m. ET, Oct. 18).
  • Trigger: no Jupiter announcement in the window; the drop came as most Solana tokens fell.
  • Watch: whether the slide that began in the afternoon slows, and the gap between buyers and sellers in the main pools.

The Jupiter Exchange token falls 6.4% on Sunday as a slow afternoon slide deepens into the evening. Jupiter Exchange ($JUP) traded at $0.277 at 3:40 p.m. ET, according to CoinGecko. Over seven days, the token is down about 25%.

What happened

On Binance’s JUP/USDT pair, $JUP closed at $0.2951 in the hour of 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. It held between $0.288 and $0.294 through Sunday morning. The slide began around 10 a.m. ET, and the token reached $0.2766 by 3:41 p.m. ET.

Jupiter’s own price feed showed $0.2770 at the same time, within 0.2% of CoinGecko. CoinPaprika put the 24-hour drop at 5.9%. CoinGecko lists a market value of $918 million and $45.4 million in trading volume over 24 hours.

Why it moved

We found no new announcement from Jupiter in the last 24 hours, so the cause is not confirmed. The move came as Solana tokens fell together. Solana ($SOL) was down 2.9%, Jito ($JTO) 8.3% and Pump.fun ($PUMP) 13.7%, all per CoinGecko.

Larger coins slipped less. LiveCoinWatch showed Ethereum ($ETH) down 3.2% and Bitcoin ($BTC) down 0.8%. Even after this week, $JUP is still up 5.3% over 30 days, per CoinGecko.

Who’s buying and selling

Two pool readings point in different directions. On DexScreener, the JUP/SOL pool on Orca, with $681,459 in liquidity, logged 4,393 buys and 4,101 sells over 24 hours.

GeckoTerminal’s top pool, JUP/SOL on Meteora with $1.92 million in liquidity, showed 1,166 buys and 2,005 sells. Larger pools leaning toward sellers fit the day’s price path.

What to watch next

Watch whether $JUP can hold near its Sunday low as U.S. trading winds down. A new update from Jupiter would be the first sign of a token-specific cause. The token remains about 86% below its record of $2.00 from January 2024, per CoinGecko.

Bottom line: $JUP fell with most Solana tokens on Sunday, and no project news explains the drop so far.
