The Orca DEX token drops 6.9% in 24 hours to $1.53 at 8:41 a.m. ET on Saturday, according to CoinGecko. Orca DEX ($ORCA) is the token of Orca, a decentralized exchange on Solana ($SOL).

The quick take

  • Price: $ORCA at $1.53, -6.9% ↓ in 24 hours (CoinGecko, 12:41 UTC).
  • Trigger: a steady slide from Friday afternoon, with no project news in the window and a nearly flat $SOL.
  • Watch: whether the 24-hour low of $1.50 holds.

What happened

CoinGecko puts the token’s 24-hour range between $1.50 and $1.65, so it trades near the bottom of that band. Jupiter’s price feed showed $1.526, within 0.3% of CoinGecko. Market value stands at $92.9 million, with $8.9 million traded in 24 hours.

The drop came slowly, not in one sharp move. On Binance’s ORCA/USDT pair, the hourly close fell from $1.653 at 12:00 UTC on Friday to $1.506 at 07:00 UTC on Saturday. It has since edged back to $1.527.

Why it moved

No Orca announcement in the past day explains the drop, so the cause is not confirmed. The wider market was calm. $SOL slipped 0.4% to $96.19 on CoinGecko, while Bitcoin ($BTC) rose 0.3%, according to LiveCoinWatch.

That makes this an Orca-specific move rather than a market sell-off. Over seven days, $ORCA is down 9.9%, according to CoinGecko’s coin page.

Who’s buying and selling

Trade counts in the main pools point in different directions. DexScreener shows 4,127 buys and 1,866 sells over 24 hours in the largest ORCA/SOL pool on Orca, which holds about $638,000 in liquidity.

GeckoTerminal tracks a second ORCA/SOL pool with about $796,000 in liquidity. There, 276 sells outnumbered 214 buys. Trade counts do not show trade size, so many small buys can still meet fewer, larger sells.

What to watch next

The first level is $1.50, the 24-hour low on CoinGecko. The token now trades about 92% below its record high of $20.33, set on Oct. 2, 2021. Any update from the Orca team would be the next piece of this story.

Bottom line: $ORCA lost 6.9% in a quiet slide with no confirmed cause and now trades just above its daily low of $1.50.
