The quick take

  • Price: $0.3656, −10.8% in 24 hours ↓ (CoinGecko, 19:40 UTC).
  • Trigger: the slide began as news of a record Binance hack broke late Thursday; Jito shared no news.
  • Watch: whether the token holds its 24-hour low of $0.3534.

What happened

The Jito token weekly loss deepens on Friday. Jito ($JTO) trades at $0.3656 as of 3:40 p.m. ET (19:40 UTC), down 10.8% in 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. Jupiter’s price feed showed $0.3653, a gap of 0.09%.

The weekly drop now tops 20%. CoinGecko’s market table shows a 21.6% loss over seven days and its coin page a 20.6% loss, read two minutes apart. The 24-hour range runs from $0.4088 down to $0.3534.

What is new since our Thursday report: the drop now lines up with the Binance hack, and the selling went on through Friday.

Why it moved

The slide began late Thursday. On Binance’s JTO/USDT pair, the price fell from $0.4091 at 20:00 UTC to $0.3785 an hour later. SolanaFloor reports that suspicious activity at Binance was first noticed around 20:00 UTC that evening.

CoinDesk reports that attackers took an estimated $6.3 billion from Binance hot wallets, the biggest crypto theft so far. Withdrawals are paused. Binance says it has reserved $6.34 billion of company money to cover the losses.

The selling went on overnight. $JTO hit an hourly close of $0.3575 at 02:00 UTC, bounced to $0.3754 by 07:00 UTC, then drifted lower again. Jito’s blog shows no new post since Sept. 28.

The wider market fell too. Solana ($SOL) is down 5.7% at $94.35, per CoinGecko. Bitcoin ($BTC) is down 5.3% at $76,493, according to LiveCoinWatch.

Who’s buying and selling

On-chain, buyers made more trades than sellers. In the Orca JTO/JitoSOL pool, DexScreener counted 934 buys and 636 sells over 24 hours, with about $957,000 in liquidity. GeckoTerminal showed 933 buys and 636 sells in the same pool.

Across all markets, CoinGecko puts 24-hour volume at $30.5 million and the token’s market value at $197 million.

JitoSOL holders stayed put. DefiLlama shows 10.36 million $SOL in Jito’s liquid staking pool at 18:33 UTC, against 10.42 million at the start of Oct. 29. Its dollar value fell to $975 million as $SOL slid.

What to watch next

  • Whether $JTO holds its 24-hour low of $0.3534.
  • When Binance reopens withdrawals: it has pointed to roughly 45 to 48 hours, per CoinDesk.
  • JitoSOL deposits in $SOL terms on DefiLlama.

Bottom line: Jito’s weekly loss passed 20% as the Binance hack weighed on crypto prices, while JitoSOL deposits held steady.
