Solana ($SOL) is heading into one of the most used phone wallets in the US. The Solana Samsung Wallet partnership lets US users make cross-border USDC transfers starting in late October, the Solana Foundation said on Oct. 7.

The quick take

  • Price: $SOL trades at $112.76, down 3.5% in 24 hours, as of 8:40 a.m. ET (CoinGecko).
  • Trigger: Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay add Solana stablecoin support, live on 82 million US Galaxy devices at launch.
  • Watch: The rollout in the last week of October and which countries come next.

What happened

The transfers sit inside Samsung Wallet, the app that already holds cards, boarding passes and IDs. Built-in ramps convert USDC to and from local currency, while Solana runs behind the scenes, the release says. More markets will follow, subject to local rules.

The Block reported more details. Coinbase will hold the USDC in Samsung Wallet through Coinbase Prime, and licensed custodian Bastion is part of the setup. Samsung will not charge a transfer fee, though receiving wallets may, and bank payouts reach more than 60 countries.

The Block also said Sui infrastructure works behind the scenes. The Solana Foundation’s release names only Solana. Decrypt noted that Samsung first teased stablecoin support in July without naming a blockchain.

Why it moved

The news did not lift the token. $SOL slipped 4.1% over seven days, per CoinGecko, and no single cause for the drop is confirmed. The Foundation says Solana’s stablecoin supply has grown nearly 20% in a year.

It also counts over $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume on the network so far in 2026. Solana Foundation president Lily Liu said “Samsung’s decision to work with Solana puts digital dollars into everyday life through one of the world’s most trusted technology brands.”

What to watch next

The first test is the late-October launch. Decrypt pointed out that the release does not say whether users hold their own keys. Readers should also watch which countries Samsung adds after the US.

Bottom line: Samsung’s wallet gives Solana a direct path to millions of everyday phone users, with the launch only weeks away.
