The quick take

  • Price: $JUP $0.3144, -11.1% ↓ in 24 hours (CoinGecko, 15:39 UTC).
  • Trigger: A steady slide since the early hours as $BTC, $ETH and $SOL also fell; the cause of the extra weakness is not confirmed.
  • Watch: The 24-hour low of $0.3138 and Jupiter Lend deposits of $1.21 billion.

The Jupiter Exchange token falls 11.1% in 24 hours as of 15:39 UTC on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Jupiter Exchange ($JUP) traded at $0.3144, according to CoinGecko, just above its 24-hour low of $0.3138.

What happened

The drop is much steeper than the market’s. Solana ($SOL) lost 3.9% over the same window, per CoinGecko. Bitcoin ($BTC) fell 3.3% and Ethereum ($ETH) 5.3%, according to LiveCoinWatch.

Jupiter’s own price feed showed $0.3141, within 0.1% of CoinGecko. $JUP has a market value of $1.04 billion, with $99.6 million traded in the past day.

Why it moved

Most of the loss came before Europe woke up. Binance’s hourly JUP/USDT data show the price slipping from $0.3516 to $0.3282 between the 01:00 and 04:00 UTC hours, a 6.7% fall.

After a short bounce, the token kept easing lower through the morning, to $0.3154 in the 15:00 UTC hour. The day’s high, per CoinGecko, was $0.3597.

The cause of the steeper drop is not confirmed. The move also comes after a strong month: $JUP is still up 24% over 30 days.

Who’s buying and selling

Trade counts do not show a rush for the exit. In the most active JUP/SOL pool, on Orca, buys outnumbered sells 11,893 to 11,245 over 24 hours, per DexScreener.

GeckoTerminal shows the same pattern in a Meteora JUP/SOL pool, with 1,924 buys and 1,770 sells. Fewer but larger sell orders can still push a price down while buys outnumber sells.

What to watch next

The first marker is the 24-hour low of $0.3138, just below the 15:39 UTC price. Jupiter’s lending arm is the second marker.

Jupiter Lend held $1.21 billion in total value locked, per DefiLlama, against $1.36 billion at Kamino Finance ($KMNO). A steady lending base would suggest the selling is about the token, not the platform.

Bottom line: $JUP fell almost three times as hard as $SOL on Wednesday, and the cause of that extra weakness is not confirmed.
