The quick take

  • Price: $0.00598, up 10% in 24 hours and 46% in seven days (CoinGecko, 11:39 a.m. ET).
  • Trigger: No cause for the daily jump is confirmed; the backdrop is a buyback that takes half of Pump.fun’s revenue.
  • Watch: Whether the day’s high of $0.00613 holds as sell orders outnumber buys on the main PumpSwap pool.

Pump.fun token gains reached 10% over the past 24 hours. The Pump.fun ($PUMP) token traded at $0.00598 at 11:39 a.m. ET (15:39 UTC) on Oct. 2, according to CoinGecko. The daily jump adds to a 46% gain over seven days.

What happened

$PUMP moved between $0.00551 and $0.00613 over the past day, CoinGecko data show. Its market value stands near $2.8 billion, with $624 million in 24-hour trading volume. Jupiter’s price feed showed $0.00596, within 0.3% of CoinGecko.

On Binance’s PUMP/USDT pair, the hourly close peaked at $0.00607 at 10 a.m. ET before easing. Over 30 days the token is up 45%. It still sits 32% below its record high of $0.00882, set on Sept. 14, 2025.

Why it moved

No single announcement explains the day’s move. The backdrop is the token’s buyback. In April, Pump.fun said half of its net revenue from the bonding curve, PumpSwap and Terminal would buy back and burn $PUMP for one year, The Block reported.

CryptoSlate reported on Sept. 26 that the program had bought about $462.5 million of tokens. It said 167.7 billion $PUMP had been destroyed, about 17% of the original supply. DefiLlama shows Pump.fun revenue of $1.75 million in the past day and $11.2 million over seven days.

A Sept. 25 SEC staff FAQ said a buyback on a working network does not, by itself, make a token a security, The Block and Decrypt reported. Decrypt noted the FAQ is a staff view with no legal force. The wider market was calmer: Solana ($SOL) rose 2.5% and Bitcoin ($BTC) 1.6%.

Who’s buying and selling

On the largest $PUMP pool, a PumpSwap pair with USDC, sells outnumbered buys over 24 hours: 14,616 to 12,199, per DexScreener. GeckoTerminal showed a similar split, 14,446 to 12,206. Counts show the number of trades, not their size.

That pool holds about $28 million in liquidity and traded $11.5 million in the past day.

What to watch next

Watch whether $PUMP holds above the day’s low of $0.00551 or retests the $0.00613 high. Daily revenue on DefiLlama is the next clue, since it sets the size of the buyback. Pool trade counts show whether sellers keep the edge.

Bottom line: $PUMP added 10% in a day on top of a strong week, while sell orders still outnumber buys on its main pool.
