The Jito token slipped 5.8% in 24 hours and traded at $0.530 as of 3:38 p.m. ET on Sept. 30, per CoinGecko. Most of the drop came in one afternoon slide.

The quick take

  • Price: $JTO at $0.530, -5.8% ↓ over 24 hours and +13% ↑ over seven days (CoinGecko, 19:38 UTC).
  • Trigger: No single event explains the drop; most of it came in a three-hour slide after 13:00 UTC.
  • Watch: Deposits in Jito’s staking pool, steady near $1.24 billion, as the token cools.

What happened

Jito ($JTO) fell 5.8% in the 24 hours to 19:38 UTC on Sept. 30, according to CoinGecko. Jupiter’s on-chain price was $0.528, down 6.1%. The two prices sat 0.46% apart.

The slide was concentrated. On Binance’s JTO/USDT pair, the token touched $0.574 during the 12:00 UTC hour. Over the next three hours it fell to a low of $0.525, and the 15:00 UTC hour saw the day’s heaviest trading there.

Even after the drop, $JTO is up 13% over seven days, per CoinGecko.

Why it moved

The cause is not confirmed, and no news report so far explains the drop. The wider market was calm: Solana ($SOL) slipped 0.9% to $118.14 on CoinGecko, and Bitcoin ($BTC) rose 0.4%, per LiveCoinWatch.

Other Solana DeFi tokens eased too, though less. Jupiter Exchange ($JUP) fell 1.7% and Kamino Finance ($KMNO) 1.3% over the same 24 hours, per CoinGecko. Both had also climbed over the week: $JUP by 14% and $KMNO by 24%.

Who’s buying and selling

Sellers led on-chain. In the largest $JTO pool, an Orca pair against JitoSOL with $1.34 million in liquidity, DexScreener counted 762 sells and 599 buys over 24 hours. That is about five sells for every four buys.

Total $JTO trading volume came to $28.6 million over the day, per CoinGecko. The token’s market value is about $279 million, which ranks it 159th among crypto assets there.

What to watch next

Jito’s core business looks steady for now. DefiLlama shows $1.24 billion locked in Jito’s liquid staking pool, which issues JitoSOL. That is close to the $1.23 billion it held on Sept. 23.

The second marker is the day’s low. $JTO now trades just above the $0.525 it touched on Binance during the afternoon slide.

Bottom line: $JTO gave back 5.8% in a day, mostly in one afternoon slide, while deposits in Jito’s staking pool held steady.
